What great pictures! I can't imagine seeing such a different culture in person (my only exposure is on TV)... Thanks for posting them!

I look forward to more...

Vanessa:)

P.S. Other folks may know this...but what's the "forbidden photo?" and why was it forbidden?

the photo of the tunnel is part of the underground city that the chinese built by hand if fear of a russian attack that never came. it covers hundreds, maybe thousands of square miles, im not sure and dont want to exagerate but it is huge. the tunnels cover the entire city of beijing and you can even get to nearby citys through the tunnels we were told. we went on a tour of the place and within about five minutes we ended up in a gift shop. it was really weird, there were no people waiting in the waiting room, and no one was in the tunnels on tours but the underground gift shop was full of chinese people. it felt like waynes's world when they looked through the door of the diner and it lead to a secret room full of ninjas...its been a long time since it saw the movie but you get the idea. we tried to skip the organized tours of places because they inevitably ended up at some factory or gift shop where they tried to foist their junk of on us. i was really annoyed that we had paid for a tour and had only gotten a hallway to a gift shop so we quietly ditched out tour guide in the shop and slipped down a nearby tunnel. we wandered the tunnels for a good twenty minutes and when i was sure no one was near enough to hear me, or at least do anything about it, i snapped some pics that our tour guide had told us were forbidden by the government. so im a criminal, oh well, i might feel bad if they had given us a decient tour:)

Maybe I've been in Japan too long, but my mouth seriously started watering on that picture. Just wondering if it smells as divine as the roasted squid (gave me a headache).
